In healthcare, every journey matters.
Supply chains, including those of the NHS, are facing a growing challenge: reduce environmental impact while continuing to deliver the life-changing products that patients depend on every day.
Together with NHS Supply Chain, we turned this ambition into action through a new delivery schedule designed to reduce emissions while driving operational value.
NHS Supply Chain depot slots were filling quickly, leading to reduced flexibility and busy schedules.
At the same time, we recognized our vans were making several product deliveries to the same depots every week.
Could there be a better way for us to serve NHS supply? We certainly thought so...
Across NHS depots nationally, we consolidated our deliveries into one combined visit per week, with clear additional processes for urgent or exceptional order needs.
The impact of our model, both in terms of environmental and operational impact, has been extraordinary:
Our work with NHS Supply Chain shows what's possible when suppliers and healthcare partners work together.
By making targeted improvements rather than overhauling entire systems, we delivered sustainability benefits alongside operational efficiencies, proving that small changes can have a significant impact.
