At Smith+Nephew, innovation extends beyond the technologies we develop for healthcare professionals and patients. It is also reflected in how we operate - continuously improving the way we manufacture products, make decisions and strengthen performance across our global network.
That commitment has been recognised at our manufacturing facility in Suzhou, China, which has been awarded the designation of Advanced Intelligent Factory by Jiangsu Province. The recognition marks an important milestone for one of our Advanced Wound Management manufacturing sites and reflects the team's ongoing efforts to combine digital innovation with operational excellence.
The Advanced Intelligent Factory designation is awarded to organisations that demonstrate excellence in intelligent manufacturing, automation, digital technologies and data-driven operations. It recognises manufacturers that are using technology to create smarter, more connected and more efficient ways of working.
At the Suzhou site, the integration of digital platforms, real-time operational visibility, intelligent equipment management and AI-enabled solutions has helped strengthen productivity, quality, agility and sustainability. These capabilities enable teams to make faster, more informed decisions while supporting continuous improvement across manufacturing operations.
The recognition also reflects Smith+Nephew's broader focus on digital transformation. Across the company, teams are leveraging technology to improve efficiency, enhance quality and create more responsive operations. In manufacturing, this includes developing smart business processes and increasingly intelligent factory environments that support reliable, high-quality production.
"This achievement is a strong reflection of our commitment to the Innovate pillar of Smith+Nephew's RISE strategy and Our Way to Win, which represents our behaviours and our continuous improvement tools and methodologies," said Cindy Duan, Site Lead. "Congratulations to the team for their dedication to operational excellence."
As Smith+Nephew continues its digital transformation journey, recognitions such as this demonstrate how combining technology, data and lean thinking can help create more efficient, agile and sustainable operations - supporting our ability to deliver high-quality products to customers around the world.
