REAL STORIES FROM REAL PATIENTS
Meet Fireman Rob – firefighter, endurance athlete, Air Force veteran, and husband/father, who has dedicated his life to helping others. From working in search and rescue for the 9/11 attacks to volunteering in children’s hospitals, Rob follows his passion and seeks to inspire others.
As a firefighter for more than twenty years, Rob understands the physical demands of the job. “You don’t quit,” says Rob, “even with pain.”
But when he reached his mid-40s, the pain was becoming constant, especially in his left knee. “It was tearing me down,” says Rob, “both physically and mentally.”
Rob’s doctor recommended partial knee replacement with OXINIUM◊ Technology. Knee implants made with OXINIUM Technology – such as the JOURNEY◊ II UK Knee System – are designed for strength and durability.1-5 They have also been shown to provide better wear performance than those made with cobalt chrome, another common material.2,3,5
After the surgery, Rob felt “part of the team again” as a firefighter. He has also been able to continue his mission of raising money for children’s hospitals and first responders in need.
Rob competes in endurance races – often in full firefighter gear – to bring attention to the importance of positive mental health.
