Positive clinical outcomes and less pain on removal vs black foam1,2 

The RENASYS-G Gauze Dressing Kit with Soft Port is an antimicrobial-impregnated wound filler for use with Negative Pressure Wound Therapy (NPWT).3 Gauze has a hydrophilic nature, designed to absorb and retain fluid, and is effective for the treatment of wounds with low to moderate drainage. It should not be used in wounds that are in a weight bearing location or have moderate to heavy drainage.

The use of RENASYS Negative Pressure Wound Therapy System (NPWT) with gauze is effective in supporting wound progression,1,2 while simplifying clinicians’ lives4,5 and helping to minimize pain for patients upon dressing removal.1,2

What are the main benefits of RENASYS-G Gauze?

Clinically effective

Overall healing rates* are similar with both gauze and black foam3,6,7

In a randomized controlled trial, the use of RENASYS-G Gauze led to less scar tissue and increased vascularization compared to black foam.2

In another prospective randomized trial, the use of gauze resulted in:

  • 4.5%/day reduction in wound area8
  • 8.4%/day reduction in wound volume8

Easy to apply

Gauze can simplify and expedite dressing changes,5,8 as it doesn’t require cutting to shape and can be used on any location of the body.5

Reduces frequency of dressing changes

Gauze can be changed twice a week, while foam generally requires three dressing changes per week.

Helps minimize patient pain on removal

Dressing changes can be excruciating and cause psychological stress to patients.

Gauze has been shown to have significantly reduced pain levels at dressing change vs black foam (p=0.046)1

Versatility

NPWT gauze dressings may be utilized in similar situations to white foam where there may be tunneled or undermined areas of a wound, split thickness skin grafts (STSG), and painful wounds.9-11
