"I first became interested in medical sales while I was studying for my degree in Human Biology. I wanted a career where I could combine my degree with my interest for business; medical sales was the perfect fit.

"I joined Smith & Nephew in 2013 in the wound franchise before moving into the orthopaedic franchise the following year. My first six months were eye-opening. I did a lot of training and shadowing more experienced sales reps which really developed my skills in the field so that I was soon dealing with my own cases.

"The first surgery I supported alone was a phenomenal experience; I was really nervous and my adrenaline was pumping! Afterwards it’s so rewarding to know that you have just supported a healthcare professional to improve the life of a patient. Four years on I still get the same feeling of achievement!

"It’s an exciting job; every day is a new a challenge and I interact with customers on a daily basis. I think the variety is one of the reasons I love it so much! Ultimately my job is getting people to believe what I believe; I believe in our products, I believe in what we do and that motivates me every day.

"There is a real family feel within the company even though it is a FTSE 100 global business. The company is genuinely ambitious for the future and I fully intend on being a part of that journey. I want to broaden my knowledge of the business by gaining experience in different markets or countries and it’s great that there are opportunities to do that within Smith & Nephew."
