How can I search & submit my interest for open jobs?

For opportunities in the US, you would search online. Career opportunities outside the US are not currently shown on the careers site. Please refer to your local HR representative for information. All site locations can be found on the main Smith & Nephew site.

How can I submit my resume / CV online?

When creating a career profile you can either enter your resume / CV manually or you can upload it in a standard file format.

Acceptable CV/résumé file formats include: Microsoft Word™ (.doc and .docx); Plain Text (.txt); Rich Text Format (.rtf); Hypertext Markup Language (.htm or .html); and Portable Document Format (.pdf).

How can I see if a job is available?

All available and active jobs in the US can be found on the job search page. If they are no longer showing then they are either filled or no longer available.

You can also check the status of any job you have applied for by viewing ‘My Submissions’ found on ‘My Job Page’.

If a job is posted on this site, does this mean that it is still open?

It is our policy to remove jobs once they are filled so any job posted on the site should still be open. The current status of all jobs to which you have applied will be shown on the ‘My Submissions’ page.

Do you post all vacancies within Smith & Nephew?

Whenever possible, we look for development opportunities for our employees before posting vacancies externally.

Do I have to apply for jobs on line?

All US career opportunities can be found on the careers site. We believe that on-line application is the most convenient method for both individuals and the company and would encourage using this approach.

How often is this job site updated?

The site is up-dated as new vacancies are approved and posted.

What if there are no jobs for which I wish to apply?

We invite you to complete your profile so that we can match you to any future opportunities. Should this be the case you will be invited to apply. Please note the careers site is currently only available in the US, India and China. Outside these countries you should contact S&N locally

How can I check the status of my application?

The status of all current applications can be found on your ‘My Submissions’ page found on the ‘My Job Page’.

Will you confirm that you received my application?

You will receive an acknowledgement of your application via e-mail if you apply on-line.

Can I modify my Career Profile at any time?

Yes, you can return and modify your Career Profile whenever you like. Click the “Access My Profile” link on the right side of the Job Search results page. If you are not already logged in, you will be asked to do so. It is your responsibility to keep you profile up to date to ensure we can make appropriate matches to opportunities.

How can I remove my profile from the system?

To remove your information and end your account log into your account & choose ‘My Account options’. From there choose ‘deactivate’ from the top of My Account Options page.

What will happen to my resume/CV?

It will be reviewed against current openings. If it matches the role competences you will be invited to apply for the role. Any documentation you send will be kept in confidential company files for the duration of the recruitment process in line with data protection legislation.

Do you advertise vacancies via other media?

Job advertisements are also placed on relevant job sites, journals, through social media and with agencies if this is regarded as appropriate.

Do Smith & Nephew offer visas & work permits?

In most cases Smith & Nephew do not offer visas or work permits. In those cases where we would offer visas or work permits this would be stated in the job description.

Do you accept resumes from overseas candidates?

We accept resumes from anyone who has the required skills, qualifications and experience needed to deliver the role. If a relocation package and visa/work permit is offered it will be included on the job description.

While searching for jobs I noticed a job that would be suitable for a friend. Can I send this information to them?

While viewing the job description, click ‘send to a friend’ link on the right hand side of the page. This will set up the link in an e-mail that you can send to the friend. The link will bring them straight back to the job description page.

The friend must then set up a profile and submit interest for us to receive any information from them.

How long will Smith & Nephew keep my CV on file?

We will keep your file should any other suitable opportunities become available; however we will only keep your file for a limited period determined by each country’s data protection guidelines. You are responsible for keeping your profile up to date & accurate, which you can do at any time.

My account seems to be locked & I cannot log in. What should I do?

If you have not used your account for a while it may be deactivated. You will need to set up a new account and create a profile in order to apply for any opportunities.

My password does not work or I have forgotten it. What should I do?

You can reset your password. At the login page, enter your user name, and then click ‘Forgot your Password’. You will be asked to re-enter your user name and your e-mail address. Click ‘ok’. An e-mail will be sent straight to your inbox with a new access code and a link to the login page.

I am unable to upload my resume/CV to complete my Personal Profile. What should I do?

You should be able to load your resume / CV onto the Personal Profile in a standard file format.
