50 Years of Making an Impact

Fifty years ago in 1968 at the Cleveland Clinic, the first professional specialty nursing organization for enterostomal therapists, now known as Wound, Ostomy and Continence (WOC) nurses, was founded. For five decades WOC nurses have been recognized as experts, leaders and passionate caregivers playing a major role in:

• Developing protocol for cost-effective resources

• Improving patient outcomes

• Enhancing patient satisfaction

• Advocating for supply and service reimbursement

• Improving the continuity and coordinator of care across settings
