Improving the outcomes of musculoskeletal trauma care

More than 1000 trauma registrars and surgeons have participated in the biennial Skeletal Trauma Symposium hosted by Smith & Nephew since 1994. The training is geared to meet skill gaps in the industry and enables the surgeons to improve the standards and outcomes of dealing with musculoskeletal trauma care. In South Africa more than 60% of orthopaedic operations performed are for gunshots, assaults or MVA’s.  Smith & Nephew constantly works to improve the standards and outcomes of dealing with musculoskeletal trauma care to prevent death and disability.
