AMBIENT◊ HIPVAC◊ 50 COBLATION◊ Wand
Designed with raised electrodes, the AMBIENT HIPVAC 50 COBLATION Wand provides a 50 degree tip, rigid shaft and AMBIENT temperature feedback for efficient and precise ablation, as well as resection of soft tissue.
The 50 degree angle facilitates access to the hip, while the rigidity and shaft length have been optimized for extending effective reach to targeted hip anatomy.
The AMBIENT HIPVAC 50 Wand provides surgeons real-time temperature monitoring of the intra-articular fluid during surgery.
Fluid temperature is continuously displayed on the QUANTUM™ 2 LCD screen. When the temperature within the joint space exceeds the user selected set point, visual and audible alarms will emit from the Controller, providing the surgeon with direct feedback.
The term COBLATION means “controlled ablation.” The COBLATION process involves the creation and application of an energy field called “glow discharge plasma.” This plasma ablates tissue through a chemical process as highly energized particles in the plasma break down molecules in the tissue.
COBLATION technology provides two distinct advantages to the surgeon:
- COBLATION technology operates at lower temperatures than other radio frequency (RF)-based technologies.
- The 100μm-200μm plasma field allows for precise removal of soft tissue with minimal damage to untargeted tissue.
