Cleanse the wound in accordance with normal procedures. Prepare and clean the skin surrounding the tracheostomy tube by removing excess moisture.
Fit the ALLEVYN Tracheostomy dressing around the stoma or tracheostomy tube. Apply the white, patterned surface of the dressing toward the patient's neck.
If required, the dressing may be cut to shape.
Additional fixation, such as OPSITE◊ FLEXIGRID◊ Transparent Film Dressing or HYPAFIX◊ Non Woven Adhesive Dressing Sheet may be used to secure the dressing.
During the early stages of treatment, the tracheostomy site should be inspected frequently. The dressings can be left in place undisturbed for up to 7 days, or until exudate is visible and approaches 3/4" from the edge of the dressing.
Step 6: Removal
To remove ALLEVYN Tracheostomy dressing, remove the retention dressing or bandage and lift the dressing away from the wound.
