Measurement of pH and control via Cadesorb


A recent study ( 15) measured wound pH values in 39 patients over a 12 month period, 247 readings in total. Average pH was 7.42 with a maximum pH 8.65 and minimum of 5.45. The pH of chronic wounds is in the region that maximises protease activity.
An ex-vivo study with Cadesorb 16 shifted the pH of wound fluid from pH 7-8 to around pH5. See diagram below:
