Richardson MC et al. An in-vivo assessment of the microbial proliferation beneath transparent film dressings. In: Maki DG (ed), International Congress and Symposium Series 179 'Improving Catheter Care'. Royal Society of Medicine Services Ltd, London, New York, 1991, 29-34.

The objective of this study was to assess the effect of 4 transparent film dressings on the microbial flora of the arm and chest in human volunteers. The study was carried out in the presence and absence of the volunteers' own serum beneath the dressing over a 24h period.

The ability of IV3000 to remove fluid quickly and prevent the explosion of skin flora carried by fluid occlusion is likely to confer a significant safety margin in vivo.
