The fracture was extensive and required bicondylar fixation. PERI-LOC VLP is low profile and provides buttress support for the medial plateau. The low profile nature minimises soft tissue irritation (tendon structures) in that area. The PERI-LOC 3.5mm Lateral Proximal Tibia Plate was selected for its strength and ability to support the tibial diaphysis.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the maximum stripping torque and pull-out strength of the PERI-LOC VLP 5.0mm Osteopenia Bone Screw using an osteopenic sawbones (10pcf foam) model.

Polyaxial Locking Plate

Each PERI-LOC VLP screw hole contains:

  • Five separate tabs that engage with the threads of the locking screw head to form a fixed angle construct.
  • Locking screws can be angled and locked up to 15° in any direction allowing for the creation of customized, multi-directional locked plating constructs.
  • Each screw hole accepts 3.5mm Cortex, 3.5mm Locking and/or 5.0mm Osteopenia Screws.

 

Low Profile Implants

  • Low profile fracture fixation in areas of minimal soft tissue coverage such as periarticular zones.
  • All screws have a low head profile to further reduce the potential for soft tissue irritation in these sensitive areas.

Optimal Plate Contour

  • The “compression contouring” feature is essential to the implant's ability to resist torque and bending during fracture healing.
  • Once securely fixed in place, the plate produces a constant buttress effect to the fracture site to minimise loss of reduction and to enhance overall fracture fixation.

Indications

PERI-LOC◊ VLP offers surgeons a stable, low profile means of fixation for fractures of the fibula and partial articular fractures of the tibia. The PERI-LOC VLP plating system is designed specifically to treat fibula fractures and partial articular tibia fractures. It gives surgeons the freedom to control fixation and helps restore not just the patient's anatomy; but their lifestyle.

The PERI-LOC VLP Distal Fibula Plates are indicated for the treatment of fractures of the distal fibula.

The PERI-LOC VLP 3.5mm One-Third Tubular Locking Plates are indicated for the treatment of fractures, non-unions, and osteotomies of the medial malleolus, fibula, distal ulna, olecranon, calcaneus and metatarsals.

The PERI-LOC VLP Distal Tibia Plates are indicated for the treatment of partial articular fractures of the distal tibia (AO/OTA Fracture Classification Type B).

The PERI-LOC VLP 3.5mm Posteromedial Proximal Tibia Locking Plate and the 3.5mm Lateral Proximal Tibia Locking Plate are indicated for the fixation of
AO/OTA Fracture Classification Type B fractures (partial articular) of the proximal tibia*. They are also indicated for the fixation of fractures in osteopenic bone.
