Medial Patellofemoral Ligament Reconstruction Technique for Patellofemoral Instability Guide

This MPFL reconstruction technique described in this guide uses an allograft to recreate the static checkrein effect of the medial patellofemoral ligament (MPFL). The goal of these procedures is to reconstruct the primary ligamentous restraint to prevent future lateral patella instability.

This technique guide was prepared under the guidance of Dr David Flanigan (US), Ohio State University Clinical Orthopaedics, Columbus, OH, USA. Created under close collaboration with the surgeon, it contains a summary of medical techniques and opinions based upon his training and expertise in the field, along with his knowledge of Smith & Nephew’s products.

This guide is presented for educational purposes only.
